Mussels Steamed with Chili Powder, Garlic and White Wine
Mussels are easy to prepare as they only need to steam about 5 minutes or so. We've learned that the secret to flavorful steamed mussels is to properl flavor the liquid added to the pot. Garlic is a favorite, so don't be shy. Be generous. We added chili powder here since we enjoy our food with a kick. Also, try beer instead of wine and see how you like the flavor.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds mussels
- 1 cup white wine
- 5 teaspoons chili pepper oil (or olive oil)
- 3 teaspoons chili pepper powder
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
Cooking Directions
- Clean and soak the mussels
- In a large pot, add wine, oil, chili powder and minced garlic. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer.
- Add mussels and cover. Steam about 5 minutes, or until the shells open.
- Serve!
