Grilled Shrimp (or Prawns) Marinated in Red Wine

Grilled Shrimp Marinaded in Red Wine

There are a number of ways to grill the shrimp, either with skewers, tinfoil, or a vegetable basket. Use whatever works best for you. This recipe is great for leftover red wine. It is very low calorie and serves great as an appetizer or a light lunch. The red wine gives the shrimp or prawns a delicious red hue.

Ingredients

  • 12-14 Black Tiger Prawns (about 1 pound), peeled and deveined
  • 1 large white onion, cut into large chunks
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 cup Italian dressing / marinade

Directions

  1. To a large mixing bowl add shrimp, onion, red wine and Italian dressing
  2. Mix well and refrigerate to marinate at least one hour
  3. Preheat grill to medium heat
  4. Add onion to grill and grill 5-7 minutes
  5. Add shrimp and grill 7-10 minutes or until shrimp is thoroughly cooked and pink
  6. Serve with your favorite glass of wine
