Crab Claws with Mustard Dipping Sauce

Crab Claws with Mustard Dipping Sauce

We enjoy the Florida Keys. Here, you'll find crab claws everywhere already cooked and ready to eat. All the restaurants serve them with a mustard dipping sauce, which we enjoy, but we decided to make our own Madness version that has a bit more flavor. We offer you this Madness version of a mustard dipping sauce, perfect for crab claws or as a dipper.

Ingredients

  • 12 medium sized stone crab claws
  • 1 orange Cubanelle pepper, diced
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh minced garlic
  • 4 tablespoons spicy mustard
  • 2 ounces heavy cream
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder or red pepper flakes (we used jalapeno powder)

Cooking Directions

  1. Heat a sauce pan to medium heat.
  2. Add olive oil with Cubanelle peppers.
  3. Cook about 5 minutes until peppers are softened.
  4. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute to brown.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  6. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well.
  7. Transfer to a bowl and cover.
  8. Chill until ready to serve.
  9. Crack the claws with a wooden mallet. So the shells don't spray all over, wrap the claws first in a towl and lightly crack.
  10. Carefully remove the crab meat from the cracked shells and dip into sauce.
  11. Enjoy!
